Former Councillor Brian Ashton recently retired from City of Toronto Council undefeated after nine successful elections over a distinguished 30-year career in local politics.

Toronto is Canada's largest city and municipal government.

Brian was a key figure in the political stewardship of Toronto as it developed and matured into a premiere international city.

Whether as Chair of the Toronto Transit Commission, Vice-Chair of the Toronto Police Service, or establishing and steering Toronto's Economic Development Committee, Brian has developed a unique set of skills and knowledge about how city government works.

Over his time as a Councillor, Brian has overseen thousands of planning/development applications and gained matchless experience on numerous agencies, boards and commissions.

Brian's experience representing Toronto at United Cities and Local Government, the world's largest organization of cities and towns, and Metropolis, an international body of cities of over a million people, has given Brian a broad global perspective of local government.

Brian is currently the First Vice-President of the Canadian National Exhibition, Member of Exhibition Place Board of Governors, and Director of East Metro Youth Services.
